Fedex chairman Fred Smith followed the announcement of dismal quarterly earnings with a detailed explanation of what his company needs to do to remain viable in the new economy. No doubt this isn’t the only example we’ll see as leaders try to speak right to their constituencies without the filter of old media. Barack Obama will most certainly take the same approach in the coming months as he tries to win popular support for his policies.
