FedEx lays it on the line

Talk about bypassing the media. Fedex chairman Fred Smith followed the announcement of dismal quarterly earnings with a detailed explanation of what his company needs to do to remain viable in the new economy. It’s not pretty, but you have to give Smith credit for getting out there and making his case in a plain-spoken way. http://mediacenter.fedex.designcdt.com/

No doubt this isn’t the only example we’ll see as leaders try to speak right to their constituencies without the filter of old media. Barack Obama will most certainly take the same approach in the coming months as he tries to win popular support for his policies.
